KCA is a local charity with innovation at its heart

September 2017

KCA are saddened to learn of the news that Board member and Vice Chair Hazel Wigmore passed away following a short illness. Hazel was instrumental in many aspects of our community, founding the National Children's Centre in 1975. She worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around her and was a role model to so many. She will be greatly missed.

Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman, who had known her since 1978, was fulsome in his praise of Hazel. He said she was a formidable operator whose aura demanded an immediate respect.

He said: “She was a natural force for good. She was a national figure from an indomitable breed of women of her generation."

It is with great sadness that KCA learned that Board member Cora Carter MBE passed away recently. Cora was very well known both locally and nationally for her passion and work for the tenant movement. Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to her family at this difficult time
